Mac OS: Rudix Install

Rudix seems to be a much more user friendly solution for Mac OS users who are not friendly with Unix-based commands and environment (NeXTSTEP, OPENSTEP). The brief how-to is as follows.

  1. Go to Rudix webpage and download the installer.
  2. Double click to execute and select only those packages you want to use.
  3. Click Continue.
  4. Click on Customizedo not click on Install or everything will be installed (unless you want to).
  5. As the installer is stupid, you have to unselect all packages but gettext, glib, mc and wget.
  6. Click on Install (not “Standard Install”).
  7. Update the system PATH variableto contain the path to the mc as follows:
export PATH = $PATH:/usr/local/bin:/usr/local/sbin
