iPhone: Mount in Linux

To mount a non-jailbroken iPhone 4S under Linux is not difficult…

Mount the iPhone

First of all, set the global USE flags: gnutls and ios.

To mount the iPhone under Linux, it’s necessary to install the following software:

emerge -av app-pda/libimobiledevice app-pda/ifuse

Create a mount point:

mkdir /media/iPhone && chown $USERNAME:$USERGROUP /media/iPhone

And mount the iPhone using the ifuse sowftware:

ifuse /media/iPhone

Get some more info from the device

Install:

emerge -av app-pda/ideviceinstaller

List the AppIDs of the Apps currently installed on your device:

ideviceinstaller -l

Kernel support for Apple FS

Just for an info. Not necessary for making it work.

 FUSE (Filesystem in Userspace) support
[*] Miscellaneous filesystems --->
 Apple Macintosh file system support (EXPERIMENTAL)
 Apple Extended HFS file system support
